Celebration for Chorus + Band
First City Winds joined our 60-voice chorus for this program of well-loved works, led by artistic director Xiaolun Chen. The program included Howard Hanson’s Song of Democracy, Marta Keen’s Homeward Bound, and two pieces by John Rutter: Distant Land (A Prayer for Freedom) and Gloria. The program also showcased the band on its own in Rossano Galante’s Resplendent Glory, conducted by Don Snowden. In addition, the concert featured three participants in Young Voices, our first singing competition for high school and college students: Erin Ennis (winner, High School Division), Tucker O’Connor (runner-up, College Level 1), and Morgan Seip (winner, College Level 2). They performed with pianist Christopher Powell.
This concert was presented as part of Pensacola’s annual Foo Foo Festival.
